Ann Rutledge

Currently the president of Tessier Translations Corp., Ms. Rutledge has more than 30 years of experience in managing language services departments for major Canadian and American companies like Microcell Telecom and American Express. Her professional experience in communications includes translation, copywriting, revision and terminology. She is the author of Vocabulaire de l’imagerie médicale, published by the Office de la langue française. Ms. Rutledge has also acted as a consultant for major companies that have mandated her to lead their francization programs and advise them on topics such as employee selection (both internally and externally), language services management, quality control, choosing external providers, evaluation tools, terminology databases, service efficiency and translation-related costs.

Her clients are active in the fields of communications, financial services, high technology and telecommunications.

Ms. Rutledge is a Linguistics graduate of the Université de Montréal with an MA in Translation and has a Diploma in Education and a Bachelor of Music degree from McGill University. Ms. Rutledge is a member of AILIA, the Association of Language Companies (ALC), the American Translators  Association – Company Division (ATA), and has also been a member of the OQLF’s jury des Mérites du français in information technology. Since 2011 she has served as Chair and Past Chair of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of AILIA.


 

Michel Fregeau

General Manager of Tessier Translation Inc., Michel Fregeau has over 25 years’ experience in language services administration at such international companies as Philips Electronics and Nortel Networks, as well as at large-scale translation and localization firms including Lionbridge Technologies, Bowne Global Solutions and CLS Lexi-tech. Michel is a member of the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ) and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Translation from Concordia University. He has worked as a self-employed translator for clients that include Philips Electronics, Harris Farinon, Eicon Technology, Memotec, Labatt, Ivaco, Sivaco, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the Bank of Canada. As a member of the Comité interentreprises de la bureautique sponsored by the Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF), Michel was involved in preparing the publications Le Vocabulaire du traitement de texte and Le Vocabulaire de la bureautique. He also assisted in the preparation of Comment gérer l’informatique en français, a project carried out in partnership with Digital Equipment of Canada, IBM, Hewlett-Packard and Philips Electronics.

Philippe Tessier

Philippe Tessier has more than 50 years of translation experience, including 30 years at the helm of Tessier Translations Corp., which he founded in 1981. Before starting his own company, Mr. Tessier worked for the Canadian Federal Translation Bureau for almost 20 years, where he held important positions including Director of Normalization and Director of Terminology.

In addition to being an experienced reviser and terminologist, he has been or is still principal translator for many companies and organizations including Statistics Canada, the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Dairy Farmers of Canada, Human Resources and Skill Development Canada and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

As a certified member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario, Philippe Tessier served as its vice-president from 1984 to 1986 and, in 2002, he received the ATIO Award.
